Launched in 1990, MIPIM is the world’s leading annual exhibition, conference and networking event dedicated to the international real estate community. The most recent edition took place in Cannes, France, March 10-13, 2015. Attendance reached 22,000 delegates from 93 countries including more than 4,500 investors.
Confirming its reputation as being at the cutting-edge of real estate trends, MIPIM 2015 focused attention on the Digital Revolution with conference sessions devoted to the use of Big & Open Data, crowdfunding, the sharing economy and Smart Cities.
Signs of renewed investor confidence - seen in 2014 for the first time since the 2008 economic meltdown - were again evident in 2015, with investors reporting high levels of available funds and a dearth in premium projects. This is opening up opportunities for what were once considered second tier cities and niche sectors such as logistics real estate.
Major cities and regions from around the world were showcasing new development projects in search of investors and occupiers. Among them, Istanbul’s breath-taking interactive model presented 40 major construction projects currently under way and requiring some €28 billion in investment.
Following the launch of MIPIM UK in 2015, real estate executives reacted positively to the latest update on the inaugural MIPIM Japan which takes place in Tokyo, May 20-21.
